Jonathan & Anna's Visit

The girl cousins got together and planned a
special meal for the grown ups and the rest of
the cousins. They did some really cute decorating in the dining hall and on the tables. And the meal was scrumptious!


Here are the cousins, all dressed in matching colors, who hosted our special meal.
One of the highlights of cousins, Aunts and
Uncles, and Grandparents being together was
putting on a play that had been planned for some time.


Crystal (Anna's oldest) was the Grandma in the play. She made a good Grandma, too. Afterwards we took a picture of the two Grandmas.

The girl cousins had a Tea Party while Anna's family was here. They dressed up in pretty clothes and invited Grandma Morley to be their guest. They had a good time
















Little Jonathan, (Joella's baby) was the only boy that was allowed there with them.

This is Mee-mee, one of our little cocker spaniels that we recently sold. They were so cute at this age.

We like to tease Fain about getting old--he finally gave in and bought him a cheap pair of reading glasses. Doesn't he look sophisticated? He thinks he has to wear them on the tip of his nose like a grandpa to be able to see over when he needs to. We can't seem to convince him differently. Ha!

Another job that Fain spent days doing at work. Thankfully he really enjoys farming.

Fain and the boys worked at gathering this corn that was spilled from the combines in the different fields around us. Some of it needed winnowed but will be a big help in feeding the goats and chickens this winter.

Fain and the 3 boys finally went on a canoe ride down the Ambarrass River that is right behind the campgrounds here where we live. They lowered the canoe back behind the barn over the bank and into the river. The river was the lowest it had been this summer. They didn't know how long it would take them to travel the four miles on to the next bridge. They ended up hitting a lot of snags in the river, having to lift the canoe up and over several places, going around curve after curve, until finally they reached their destination. Their cell phone thankfully had enough signal to call me and tell me when to meet them down at the next bridge. We got there to see them come in sight. They arrived with cold, wet feet but happy having accomplished their goal of adventure for the day. We met them with a good picnic lunch that we ate there on the river bank before it got dark.

Nathaniel worked with a contractor from our church on this steep roof--an old church made into a house. Thankfully he didn't fall off like another worker did after Nathaniel was done with his part of the job.

Kenn & Iva's Visit--Sept. 13th

When Iva's family came through, Fain gave them a hay ride.

Update On Our Newest Niece

We don't have many pictures but this will give you an update on how much baby Elizabeth Jackman ( Chris & Kezia's baby) has grown.

Here she is such a doll baby! Almost 2 mo. old, I believe.

This is the latest picture we have of her. Also it is her 1st smile we saw. I can hardly believe I was even able to capture it! Doesn't she look like her daddy, Chris?

Ministry & Out-Reach

The cousins had so much fun learning to play bells and then going out and ministering to the older people in the nursing home. Elon's family was still here at this time. (Dates on these pictures are wrong--sorry)

The people seemed to really be blessed by the bell songs and singing and ministering to them.

Afterwards we all stood around outside and discussed where to get some ice cream cones. We decided it would be cheaper to go and get some pre-packaged cones at Walmart for the size of gang that we were -- (Elon's, Fain's, Joella's and Kezia's).

We went to a park and enjoyed our cones while we visited with each other.

Then the cousins had fun on the playground equipment. I hope that wasn't too much weight for that swing!

Another bell service we helped in was at an old church. We were so pleased and surprised to see Fain's farmer boss and wife show up for the service. This song was done by the Morley/Bradford families.

We are enjoying helping Craig & Joella and Kezia in this ministry. It is exciting seeing this ministry carry on from the former Morley Handbell Choir Singers and Players and now being passed on down to the second generation. Our children are enjoying it so much!

Sad News

Our little Piper disappeared. He was love by us all. One evening when it was time to close up for the night, no one knew where Piper was neither remembered when it was we last saw him. We hoped he would show up the next morning, but he didn't. We were sad.

He would take "cat" naps in such unusual places. He was so soft and sweet!

Piper was so docil and was playing "asleep" while Natasha dressed him up in a cute little tee shirt.
Piper was so used to hearing someone playing the piano all the time that he was comfortable laying on the piano keys while David practiced his lessons.
Piper just layed there while little Jonathan pulled his tail.
Here's the little boy (Craig & Joella's baby) who found it fun to pull Piper's tail, and he likes to suck his two fingers. Such a sweetheart!

Gardens Produce Lots of Work, Fun, & Good Home-grown Food!

While Amaris was here, she got to get in on the canning around our house. Here they are making sweet pickles. (Sorry, the date on the picture is wrong.)

They also made relish with our zucchini.

Amaris made yummy zucchini bread. We canned lots of green beans and made pickled beans.

Our family love pickled beans around our house. It makes a good snack for them.

Preparing lots of cucumbers for more pickles. It was nice to work outside on our picnic table.

More dill pickles and pickled beans.

We grew so many jalapenos that we ended up just pickling some. We prefer to make our fresh salsa with it but there's only so much salsa you can eat. Also some one gave us some pears--only enough to eat fresh, though.

With our tomatoes, we canned various things: salsa, pizza sauce, spaggetti sausce and just plain tomatoes.

Some one gave us some peaches that we canned. They look too pretty to eat now. I'll have to ration them though, cause they won't last long.

We were blessed when someone who had more grapes than they could use asked us to come pick Concord grapes off their grapevines. We filled several buckets full. Then with lots of work,

we made lots of grape jelly and jam and even had some to share with my Mom and with Joella.

This is one of the three - 41 pound watermelons that Nathaniel grew.

Our garden produced some of the tallest field corn I've seen. The goats will have some good food for this winter. (The date on the picture is wrong. :) )
