4th of July Visitors

My sister, Beverly and husband, Bob, came to spend the 4th of July weekend with us. This was the first time of them being here to see our little farmette and to visit us since being here. So it was special to have them here. Bob brought his 4 wheeler and the boys had a blast riding it all over the camp grounds and thru the woods. We enjoyed having them with us over Sunday. Then Monday when we were going to celebrate Independence Day, my parents showed up almost before I could get out of bed. We were so happy to have them come for the second time since we've been here. They spent most of the day here before they had to go back home, to southern Indiana where they now live.
We put them all to work and it was fun.

Here's my mother in her delight---snapping beans. Inspite of the fact she can't see, she can still feel and snap beans quite well. She sure enjoyed that!

We put everybody to work even though it was a holiday. No work--no play! The men picked the corn and husked it while we ladies worked with the hot water, blanching, cutting, and bagging the corn. This was what we called a "Corn-husking bee". It was a lot of fun working together- especially with family.

My sister and Mother (although practically blind) both helped us put up corn.

We took a ride up to the barn on the wagon, pulled behind their 4 wheeler. It was a hot day!

We couldn't convince my sister, Beverly, to cross the "swaying" bridge that the guys built. She was afraid it wouldn't hold her.

Bob, my brother-in-law, doesn't like cats that well, but he fell in love with our Piper. He began feeding him while meal time and teaching him bad habits.

We were thankful to get to eat some of these delicious cherries that Nathaniel picked over at Grandma and Grandpa Morley's place. We even made a cherry crisp with them. It was delicious.

We are so thankful for our beautiful garden. Lots of fresh vegetables and lots of work for us all.

Our precious little Piper had all it could take of playing in Fain's hat and fell asleep.

Now look at Leo, our precious male dog, after wallowing in a mud puddle down in the creek! We shunned him for a while, then he got a bath.

Chris & Kezia's baby!

Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm finally getting around to posting her pictures. To most everyone's surprise, it was a GIRL! Elizabeth Nicole Jackman came two weeks early and surprised us all. We all think she looks like a Jackman; she takes after her daddy. She was born June 18, but we didn' get in to see her till the 19th. Kezia was so happy that she didn't have to wait 2 more weeks till her due date. By now she's 3 wks. old and changed and grown alot. Kezia's enjoying her new baby girl so much. We're all happy for them.
This baby was the 46th grandbaby on the Morley's side. She made it a tie--23 boys and 23 girls.

Hoshea's one-day visit.

We didn't get very many pictures of their time here--Mostly of the children's activities. But we had a good time together. We, along with Craig's family, got together for dinner and supper at Craig & Joella's house and we ladies enjoyed visiting while doing meal preperations and the men went and did men things. We hope they don't wait so long next time to come back.

Hoshea's, Fain's and Joella's kids all going on a ride. (Actually I think they were going to go pick blackberries.) Joseph (so grown up now) is in charge.

Hoshea's and our children had so much fun together after so long of not seeing each other. This is the canoe that Fain built and that we towed all the way up from TX when we moved up. It has served us well here at the pond at Crest Haven.

Summer Activities

We decided to change our old ragged couch for another one . The children were all excited about it too so they did all the work. (Especially since that involved driving the tractor!)

More family time working together husking corn. "Many hands make light work".

We were thrilled to harvest so much sweet corn. We haven't been able to grow corn for years where ever we've been in TX nor in Mexico. This is such a treat and blessing to us.

We finally got around to painting our house. It needed it badly. This kept the children busy for a while. It sure looks better now.

Here is our newest little pet around our house- Piper. He is so fluffy, playful and cute. And since we got him when he was only 6 wks. old, he still loved to nurse. Our other mother cat adopted him and nurses him now along with her kittens.
